What is Baptism ?

Baptism is an outward symbol that Benjamin has entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It symbolizes what has taken place inwardly at the time of his salvation: his acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Simply, we are to be baptized as Christ-followers because Jesus was baptized. For Benjamin, it is the opportunity to share with the world that he now follows Christ. Furthermore, baptism is the first and crucial step of obedience in a new and growing relationship with God.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” -John 14:6.

As the Bible says, we cannot earn our way to heaven through works & good deeds, or through Baptism alone. No one is deserving of such a reward. It doesn’t matter what we have done or not done. God’s grace is a gift that is given freely to all of us through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. It is by admitting that we are a sinner, that we believe that Jesus is God’s son, and by entering into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that we enter into the gates of heaven.
